Wednesday Wisdom- Vision & Purpose

In summary, we perform at our best when serving a vision and purpose that’s greater than ourselves.

You are not here merely to make a living. You are here in order to enable the world to live more amply, with greater vision, with a finer spirit of hope and achievement. You are here to enrich the world, and you impoverish yourself if you forget the errand.
-Woodrow Wilson

We see this demonstrated time and again in athletics when the individual players on a team forget themselves and instead focus 100% on contributing to and serving their teammates. This mindset is what brings out the best in ourselves and others, and it creates championship teams.

So how can you apply this in your own life?

What if you thought about your vision and purpose encompassing something greater than yourself?

Who are you serving within your family, workplace, or community?

How can you serve them with even greater clarity and impact?

And why are your service and contribution so important to them and yourself?

But it’s also vital to consider the other dimension of vision and purpose, which is acting in alignment with your own integrity.

Does your current work and life come from a deeply heartfelt place that feeds your mind, body, and spirit?

If not, how can you begin to move closer and closer in alignment with a truly heartfelt vision, while serving others to the best of your ability right where you are now?

Stay tuned next week as we dive deeper into considering how we can better align our actions with our aspirations, and what it takes to really know what matters most in our lives.
