About Us
The PurePower Manifesto
We believe that all of us have a fire deep within, and that igniting that fire is the key to fulfilling our potential and living life FULL OUT.
We also believe that optimal health is the key to igniting your inner fire, and that gifts from Mother Nature can uniquely help us to do so.
And with just the right mix of hemp extract, other herbs and minerals, and a healthy lifestyle, performance can improve dramatically… whether it be on the mountain, in the gym, behind a desk or driving a carpool.
We believe that if you hit a wall, running through it might not always be the best way forward. Because noses aren’t designed for grindstones and shoulders weren’t meant to be kept to wheels.
We say a more balanced, sustainable approach is the way to go because we’ve been there…and done that.
That’s why we exist.
Because to us, the riches rewards in life come from living FULL OUT and giving our best to others and the world around us. But to be at our best we need to feel at our best.
That’s what it’s all about.
That’s why we created PurePower.
And we’re here to help you ignite YOUR inner fire and live LIFE FULL OUT.
The PurePower Manifesto
We believe that everyone deserves to live the fullest and richest life possible.
Because feeling good and performing at your highest potential isn’t a luxury, it’s a birthright.
We believe that optimal health should be achieved holistically and that Mother Nature provides us with so many ways to do so.
And with just the right mix of hemp extract, other botanicals, and a healthy lifestyle, performance can improve dramatically… whether it be on the mountain, in the gym, behind a desk or driving a carpool.
Because to us, life isn’t just about taking great care of yourself, it’s about giving our best to others and the world around us. But we need to feel at our best to give our best.
That’s what it’s all about.
That’s why we created PurePower.
And we’re here to help you live your best life.
Founders’ story: Finding our PurePower
PurePower is the inspired creation of two cousins, each of whom is a high-performance athlete and serial entrepreneur who discovered the immense, life-enhancing power of hemp, other powerful herbs and botanicals, and lifestyle optimization.
In the past PurePower’s founders hit significant roadblocks in their work, personal life and athletic pursuits using the traditional “24/7, nose to the grindstone approach,” each ultimately hit the wall.
As a result, each was forced to make significant shifts to manage stress more effectively and develop more balanced, sustainable energy. They began integrating a variety of herbal and botanical ingredients but found no supplements combined all of the most effective ingredients. Hence, they formed PurePower.
Our mission is to help customers enhance their enjoyment of and performance in life by creating functional supplements that contain powerful natural ingredients proven to promote health, well-being, and balance.
Because we believe that optimal health, well-being, and peak performance are achieved holistically and not solely through taking supplements, an integral part of our mission is to deliver wellness strategies and practices designed to work in tandem with our products as set out in our Inside-Out Performance™ practices which you can learn about here.
Finally, our core mission includes dedicating a percentage of our profits to fund social causes that enhance communities and the environment, including the support of disabled veterans through adaptive outdoor sports and adventure, as well as environmental restoration and protection via regenerative agriculture, which you can read about here.
How about you? What’s your story of transformation?
Don McLaughlin
Don is a father of three, author, wellness advocate and ultra endurance athlete. A former trial lawyer of nearly 20 years, Don’s legal career included service as an Assistant District Attorney, litigator at a prominent Colorado law firm, and in-house corporate lawyer at a Fortune 500. As a corporate lawyer, Don became a nationally recognized expert in the areas of electronic data retrieval, analysis and management. Subsequently Don founded and served as CEO of Falcon Discovery, a legal consulting and tech services firm serving the Fortune 500. As CEO of a rapidly growing, multi-million dollar firm that handled some of the highest profile legal cases in the country, he experienced intense pressure and stress 24/7. Following years of prolonged burnout, Don finally hit the wall in 2012. After what he can only describe as divine intervention and a newfound inspiration to become a better father and leader, Don overhauled his diet and began running ultra endurance trail races in the Colorado Rockies. He incorporated hemp and other plant extracts into his new health regime, and developed a series of performance practices to advance his recovery, regain balance and sustain high performance. With these changes nearly everything in his life turned around, and Don’s business and personal life flourished. Within months his running distances doubled and tripled, and he completed his first 36 hour, 100 mile race on the Continental Divide in Colorado in 2016. Likewise his business blossomed like never before, and he subsequently sold Falcon Discovery and stepped down in 2017 to inspire and support others with the lessons that he learned. To this end Don is finishing work on his first book, which will be published in early 2019.
Don received his undergraduate from the University of Vermont, with Phi Beta Kappa, magna cum laude distinctions, and a law degree from the University of Denver. He also received a certificate in Authentic Leadership from Naropa University. Among other performance-oriented organizations, Don has also trained extensively with Strategic Coach, the Bulletproof Training Institute, and the Ann Wigmore Health Institute.
As an ultra-endurance trail runner, Don has completed a host of ultras in the Rockies, including the US Skyrunner/Aspen Audi Power of Four, Collegiate Peaks, Mt. Werner Classic, and Run Rabbit Run (both 50M and 100M distance) races. A former nationally competitive tennis player, Don enjoys a wide variety of other pursuits, including yoga, surfing, snowboarding, ski mountaineering, cycling, sailing and multi-sport adventure racing.
Sean McCabe
In 2015 Sean suffered a traumatic brain injury which nearly killed him, and he spent months in intensive recovery and rehabilitation. In the subsequent effort to restore his physical and emotional health, Don recommended that he try hemp extract and several other botanicals. Sean quickly discovered that this combination greatly improved sleep, reduced stress and restored his energy. Sean’s injury came on the heels of a successful career developing wind power projects in the U.S., and it forced him to reconsider his life and work priorities. Convinced that his rapid and full recovery came from his use of natural remedies such as hemp as well as a renewed focus on exercise, diet, and improved sleep, Sean shifted his work from advancing renewable energy to sharing the benefits of these powerhouse plants and lifestyle changes. He believes PurePower can serve as a safe and effective platform for others to recover, restore and enhance their own performance and well-being.
Prior to forming PurePower with Don, Sean was Chief Development Officer and President of Westerly Wind, LLC. He began his wind power career with Catamount Energy in 2002, which was later acquired by Duke Energy. In total he led the successful development of over 800 MW of operating wind capacity in the U.S. He has an undergraduate degree from the College of the Holy Cross and an MBA from the University of Michigan Ross School of Business. Sean is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).
A former college soccer and hockey player, Sean enjoys cycling, skiing, and hot yoga. Most of all he’s just happy to be back on the ice. He’s run the New York and Boston Marathons, hiked Mount Kilimanjaro and competed in several endurance events such as the Vermont 50, the Firecracker 50, the Steamboat Stinger and Xterra Off-Road Triathlons.
Profits for purpose & the PurePower mission
One of PurePower’s core missions is to dedicate a portion of profits to support those causes that align with our Inside-Out Wellness philosophy and practices and improve the health and well-being of people and the planet. We believe that achieving balance with a focus on sustainability is integral to addressing many of the ills in the modern world, and here are two organizations that do just that. We are honored to support their transformational work.
Veterans Adaptive Sports (VAS)
VAS is an all-volunteer organization that promotes adaptive sports and outdoor adventure for disabled military veterans, in order to rejuvenate and inspire them to recapture their lives. At the core of PurePower’s mission, we believe athletics can help heal and transform and therefore feel honored to support VAS programs that include outdoor athletics like biking, sailing, scuba diving and skiing. The ultimate goal is to empower disabled veterans to make athletics and their chosen sport part of their daily lives, not only to stay healthy but also to help them maintain a sense of purpose and continue to positively impact others with the same courage and commitment they demonstrated in service.
Rodale Institute
A pioneer in organic and regenerative agriculture since 1947, the Institute has a mission to improve the health and well-being of people and the planet. Among other initiatives, the Institute’s no-tillage and minimum tillage systems support farmers’ use of cover crops to sequester carbon and add organic matter to the soil. This initiative is a key part of the Institute’s goal to link regenerative agriculture with efforts to mitigate climate change. More recently, the Institute inaugurated a Hemp Initiative in 2017 to study whether hemp can help farmers reduce the amount of chemicals used to control pests and weeds, help regenerate soil depleted of nutrients, and cultivate a new, alternative cash crop for farmers. Early reports demonstrate that hemp checks all of those boxes. At PurePower we believe hemp will be the next big advancement in agriculture, and in order to help advance that momentum we are honored to support the Institute’s efforts to showcase how hemp can regenerate the soil, reduce the use of chemicals, and also help resuscitate family farms in the U.S. and lead them to a more prosperous and sustainable future.
