PurePower FAQ

Welcome to the PurePower Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page. Here we try to answer your questions about our finely-tuned and highly effective CBD infused herbal supplements.

Hemp – what is it, where is it grown and how is it different than marijuana?

All of PurePower’s products are derived exclusively from industrial hemp. Hemp and marijuana are different cultivars of the same plant – the cannabis sativa L. The major difference between hemp and marijuana is that marijuana has been bred to contain high levels of psychoactive compounds. In contrast, hemp does not contain those levels of compounds and will not get you ‘high’ like marijuana. Industrial hemp is already widely used for clothing, biofuels, bioplastics, cosmetics, food and nutritional supplements. And it is increasingly being researched and recognized for its effectiveness as a cover crop to regenerate soil as well as for its health and wellness applications.
PurePower’s hemp is grown in our home state of Colorado, nourished by crisp, clear Rocky Mountain water and lots of sunshine. Our hemp is grown and cultivated by master growers in small batches the way Mother Nature intended.

What is the Endocannabinoid System (ECS)?

The ECS consists of a vast network of neurotransmitters and receptors, called CB1 and CB2, that are highly concentrated in specific areas of the mind and body such as the brain, central nervous system and immune system. Scientists now understand that the ECS is a primary mechanism for the coordination and maintenance of optimal health and well-being – commonly referred to as homeostasis.

See our Learn page here for a more detailed discussion of the ECS and the role cannabinoids play in it.

What are cannabinoids? What’s the difference between endocannabinoids and phytocannabinoids?

Cannabinoids are a class of chemical compounds that acts on the vast array of receptors that make up the ECS. There are over 113 known cannabinoids that comprise the hemp plant. These plant-based, naturally occurring compounds – such as CBD, CBC, CBG, and CBN – are otherwise known as phytocannabinoids because they are plant-derived. Endocannabinoids are cannabinoids produced by the human body to interact with cannabinoid receptor sites. Both phytocannabinoids and endocannabinoids regulate our endocannabinoid system (ECS), which is the body’s primary regulatory system.

What is full spectrum hemp oil?

Full spectrum hemp refers to the oil that is derived and extracted without alteration from the hemp plant to capture the full suite of compounds and nutrients contained in the plant, including phytocannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids, chlorophyll, and essential fatty acids such as Omega 3, 6 and 9.

Why is full spectrum hemp oil better than isolate?

Isolate is just that – cannabinoids (typically CBD) which have been artificially separated from the other phytonutrients and cannabinoids in the hemp plant. Isolate products do not contain the other constituent phytocannabinoids that exist in the plant. Herbalists and recent studies now show that isolate is less effective than full spectrum oil extract because consuming all of the phytocannabinoids together appears to create a synergistic effect on the human body and internal systems.

Are hemp-derived cannabinoids different from those from marijuana?

Since both hemp and marijuana are from the same genus and species cannabis sativa L., the cannabinoids found in both plants are generally the same. However, hemp yields a greater proportion of cannabinoids than marijuana and hemp does not deliver the ‘high’ that marijuana does.

Is your hemp organic?

There has been no clear, widely-accepted organic hemp certification available in the U.S. That is changing, as our hemp supplier recently achieved USDA Organic certification. We expect to incorporate this organic oil in future production. In the meantime, our hemp supply is grown by master growers on Colorado farms that are fully certified and licensed industrial hemp operations which use sustainable farming practices, including growing without pesticides or herbicides.

What type of extraction process does PurePower use to create its Performance CBD™?

Unlike other hemp extracts, which apply harsher methods such as CO2, ethanol or butane to the hemp plant to extract the oil, we use a proprietary vapor extraction process to make our full spectrum Performance CBD™. Vapor extraction uses a combination of rapid high heat and condensation to retain 98%-99% of the original compounds in the hemp plant without any harsh chemical residue.

Is our hemp legal?

In the United States, the 2018 Farm Bill (signed into law in December 2018) redefines hemp as an agricultural commodity, and explicitly removes hemp and hemp extracts from the purview of the Controlled Substances Act and the jurisdiction of the Drug Enforcement Administration. The 2014 Farm Bill had legalized industrial hemp and established that it not contain more than 0.3 percent delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) on a dry weight basis. We test every shipment of our hemp to ensure that it meets this THC criteria.

Safety and side effects of hemp

Hemp extract and its component parts are safe and well-tolerated for human consumption, with no known negative side effects. In particular, a recent report from the World Health Organization (WHO) found no adverse health impacts or abuse potential of cannabidiol, the major cannabinoid in  hemp extract: http://www.who.int/medicines/access/controlled-substances/5.2_CBD.pdf

Why do you call the cannabidiol in your hemp extract Performance CBD™?

We proudly call it Performance CBD™ due to these innovative, unique attributes: our hemp is grown in small batches in Colorado by master growers without pesticides or herbicides; we extract the full spectrum of cannabinoids (including CBD) using a revolutionary, gentle vapor extraction process that retains 98%-99% of all cannabinoids from the plant; and in the case of our DailyBoost product, we deliver the cannabinoids via liposomal technology, increasing its bioavailability and rapid assimilation; and in the case of the Inside-Out Complex™ in our formulated products, we combine our Performance CBD™ with other herbs and minerals in ways that increase absorption and effectiveness due to the synergistic effect of combining these complementary plants and minerals with our Performance CBD™.

Quality assurance and testing

PurePower is obsessed with quality and transparency, which is why our products are batch-tested by an independent third party lab. The ingredients, including our Performance Hemp™, are tested prior to being combined into our formulations. And then the final products are tested before they are released from our lab for sale. Not only does all of this testing validate the contents, including the cannabinoid levels, but also confirms the absence of harmful levels of pesticides, herbicides, heavy metals and residual solvents. On top of that, our products are manufactured and packaged in a Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) designated facility in Colorado. How do cannabinoids affect the body?

Please see our Learn page here for a detailed discussion of how cannabinoids interact with your ECS.

How will your products make me feel?

Our products have been created to support our customers in their efforts to enhance their health, wellness and performance. As with every nutritional supplement, individual results with products will vary. To comply with federal regulations, PurePower is unable to make any claims that our products specifically address certain ailments or health conditions. We encourage you to do your own research and investigate the plethora of research available online about hemp and cannabinoids, as well as the other plants and minerals in our proprietary formulas. However, this is what the U.S. government has to say about cannabinoids:
In its patent (#6,630,507) titled CANNABINOIDS AS ANTIOXIDANTS AND NEUROPROTECTANTS, the government makes some big claims, stating that:

  • “Cannabinoids are potent antioxidants… they easily penetrate tissues giving them the ability to enter the central nervous system and brain.”
  • “Non-psychoactive cannabinoids such as CBD are particularly advantageous as they are non-toxic… and exhibit unique antioxidant properties without the undesirable effects of THC.”
  • “The antioxidant strength of CBD is significantly greater than that of either Vitamin C or Vitamin E.”
What’s the best way to take your products?

Our products should be taken as recommended on each product label. For optimal results, however, we do recommend taking our DailyBoost at the same time you take any of our other formulated products. The reason for this is that the effects of hemp oil are unique to each individual, and we believe it is best for each individual to augment as much or as little of DailyBoost to achieve desired results. While our DailyBoost and Inside-Out Complex formulated products are effective on their own, you will achieve optimal results when DailyBoost is taken simultaneously with our other Inside-Out Complex products and in amounts best suited for you. Why? Because your endocannabinoid system is a dynamic system, which at times will be more depleted than others (depending on your levels of stress, rest, overall energy and environmental factors). It may need more or less support at any given time based on those conditions.

Do I need a prescription to buy your products?

You do not need a prescription to buy PurePower products, which are considered over-the-counter nutritional supplements. However, as with any supplement, we recommend you discuss with your healthcare provider the ingredients and use of our products.

How do I consume the last of the Daily Boost remaining in the bottle?

When the pump no longer delivers a full 3 pump serving, we suggest you screw off the bottle top and dose the liquid by pouring into a spoon. There should be 5-6 additional servings left in the bottle and the 3 mL serving size = .6 teaspoons. And if you want to leave no residual Daily Boost in the bottle, you can add a touch of water, shake it up and drink the last of the hemp extract straight from the bottle.
